The Academy Awards ceremony was held at Los Angeles’ Dorothy Chandler Pavilion to honor movies released in 1968.

Among the award recipients were:

  • Best Picture – Oliver!
  • Best Actor – Cliff Roberston for Charly
  • Best Actress – tie
    • Katherine Hepburn for The Lion in Winter
    • Barbara Streisand for Funny Girl
  • Best Supporting Actress – Ruth Gordon for Rosemary’s Baby
  • Best Supporting Actor – Jack Albertson for The Subject Was Roses
  • Best Original Screenplay – Mel Brooks for The Producers
