New Voice for April 1, 1969

New Voice for April 1, 1969

Highlights of this edition include:

  • A look at contemporary music that left the author, Jack Trapp, asking: “Where is the blood, guts and honesty that produced men like Bob Dylan?”
  • Results of the recent election for editor of the New Voice. Eileen Ventimiglia won, taking over from Liz Foy.
  • In an editorial entitled “‘Innovative’ College”, the Voice picks up on issues discussed at the recent All College Conference and declares: “We should not allow the College to lose its “innovative” direction because of excessive beauracracy, empty tradtion or competition with other institutions. Instead of trailing along traditional paths behind the large status-oriented institutions in matters of curriculum, grading and structure, Dowling should strike out on its own, using its own unique potential as a small college.”
