On this day in 1969, former President Eisenhower died. Dwight David “Ike” Eisenhower was the 34th President of the United States, from 1953-1961. He was a five-star general in the U.S. Army, planned and oversaw the successful invasion of France and Germany in WWII, and became the first Supreme Commander of NATO. He was the last WWI veteran to serve as a U.S. President.
