In the World: The “Jumbo Jet” Takes Off

The first flight of a Boeing 747 took place, ushering in a new era of passenger travel in high-occupancy airplanes.  During the mid-1960s, the company had anticipated significant growth in the airline passenger market and reached an agreement with Pan American Airways to develop the “Jumbo Jet”.
