From the Dowling College News & Views newsletter, (no. 2), February, 1969:
Dowling has become one of the few colleges in the world to include ownership of a new four-passenger helicopter among its educational advantages.
The helicopter, a Bell Jet Ranger, was a gift to the college from Robert W. Dowling, Chairman of City Investing Company of New York. Mr. Dowling delivered the aircraft personally, flying in it from New York City.
On hand to meet the helicoopter and “receive the keys” from Mr. Dowling were President Allyn P. Robinson and Board Chairman John B. Retalliata (left). The new “chopper,” painted a bright blue and gold, will be available for transportation of college dignitaries and special guests, and for additional instructional use in the Aeronautics Program.
