In the World: WLIW Begins Broadcasting

Tuesday, January 14, 1969

WLIW Channel 21 offered its first taped broadcasts over the air and became Long Island’s first television station.  Operated by the the Long Island Educational Television Council out of  Nassau Community College, Channel 21 was founded to focus on community and educational programming.
