In the World: Perfection in the Rose Bowl

Wednesday, January 1, 1969

The undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes top the undefeated (but once tied) USC Trojans 27-16 in the annual Rose Bowl game. It’s only the third time in college football history that the #1 and #2 ranked teams meet in a bowl game. Heisman Trophy winner O.J. Simpson rushes for 171 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown for the Trojans, but it was the Buckeyes who come from behind in the fourth quarter and score 14 points to seal the victory.
