Student Newspaper: December 17, 1968

The New Voice student newspaper from December 17, 1968

New Voice, December 17, 1968

Highlights of this edition include:

  • A review of the new Broadway musical Promises, Promises based on Billy Wilder’s movie The Apartment. The show featured a book by Neil Simon, music by Burt Bacharach, and future Law & Order star Jerry Orbach. The Voice reviewer found, however, that all this star power promised more than it delivered.
  • A review of the New Voice by New York Times editor Lewis Jordan. Jordan pointed out the paper’s lack of illustrations and occasional burying of the lead in articles but was generally positive, claiming: “[the Voice‘s] editorials and its letters from readers are of high caliber.”
  • A letter to the editor from Beserk Productions defending the Happening of December 3rd.
