In the World: Election Day, 1968

Tuesday, November 5, 1968

The public went to the polls to vote for president. The nominees were:

  • Hubert Humphrey (Democrat)
  • Richard Nixon (Republican)
  • George Wallace (American Independent Party)

The race between Humphrey and Nixon proved to be tight and as of midnight, no winner had been declared.
