In the World: Detroit Tigers Win the World Series

Thursday, October 10, 1968

The Detroit Tigers came back from a 3-1 deficit to win the World Series, defeating the St. Louis Cardinals 4-1 in Game 7. The Tigers would be only the third team to overcome a three games to one series deficit, winning the last two games at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. It was the first World Championship for Detroit since 1945; pitcher Mickey Lolich garnered the MVP award, earning victories in three of the Tigers’ four wins.
